In a land where beer and cheese are king, you better believe Wisconsin Dells has plenty of brewpubs and craft beer bars awaiting you on your next visit. With a variety of watering holes, breweries, and ale houses you have several options to taste the delicious libations of the region while on the look out for Wisconsin Dells activities, whether you plan your own tasting journey or join a guided tour of these Wisconsin Dells Breweries.
Wisconsin Dells’ Breweries Delights
Closest to our hearts and to your vacation rental at Spring Brook are two local craft breweries. Moosejaw Pizza and Dells Brewing Co. features fresh Italian favorites like pizza and calzones and a delicious kids’ menu, but the real draw here is the beer. One of the first microbreweries in the region, their beers have been winning awards since 2002. As the only microbrewery in the Dells with 10 or more handcrafted beers on tap at any time, you’ll be hard pressed to try them all – but give it a go! (responsibly, of course). We like the Imperial Stout, the limited edition Imperial Red Rum Bomber (aged in rum barrels for a hint of molasses) and the Kilbourn Hop Ale, but locals also swear by the Sconnie Ale. Of course, no visit to Wisconsin is complete without trying a shandy-like beer and Moosejaw features several including the Relaxin’ Raspberry, the Apple Ale, and the summer classic Strawberry Lemon-ale with hints of strawberry and lemonade perfectly paired with delicious blonde ale. Located at 110 Wisconsin Dells Parkway, they are open every day, year-round.
Port Huron Brewing Company is a working Wisconsin Dells breweries with a cozy tasting room featuring a handmade bar, two communal tables, and several smaller four-tops. Watch the brewers at work while you sample their goods, and be sure to try their best seller, the Honey Blonde. Three German-style beers, the Hefeweizen, the Oktoberfest (a Marzen), and the Alt Beer (a German amber ale) are quite popular, as is the Twelve Bottom IPA made from local Midwest hops and packing a perfectly paired hop bitter with a malty backbone. Located at 805 Business Park Rd., they are open Wednesday through Sunday and feature a revolving offering you shouldn’t miss.
Mission to Madison
About an hour’s drive from the Dells, Madison, WI, boasts a wide selection of breweries as well. The Funk Factory Geuzeria is a must for fans of sour beers, while The Ale Asylum, Octopi Brewing, Karben4 Brewing, and One Barrel Brewing all boast delightful lineups of classic and experimental beers sure to please. If you love beer but hate gluten, visit Alt Brew which has an entirely gluten-free beer menu.
Many of these delicious beers are available as carry-out from the brewery or in local grocery and specialty stores, so be sure to taste them all to find your favorite to refresh your self between Wisconsin Dells Activities.
