Showcasing the 15-inch gauge steam engine trains built by Sandley Light Railway Equipment Works beginning in the 1940s, Riverside and Great Northern Railway brings old traditions and experiences to life again. Ride along three miles of scenic track within the quaint and charming steam engine train cars, observing striking rock formations, picturesque canyons, and dense woods along the Wisconsin River.

Onsite, the museum hosts learning experience workshops on the mechanics and conducting basics involved with steam engines. Additionally, the onsite gift shop sells a variety of train themed souvenirs to remember your experience by, including Thomas the Tank Engine memorabilia.

You’ll find Riverside and Great Northern Railway at N115 County Rd. N, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965. This attraction is open seasonally, weather permitting, from early April through late October. During the early and late seasons (early April through late May and early September through late October), the railroad is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30am-4pm, with trains running every hour on the hour from 10am-4pm. Mid-season (late May through early September), the attraction is open daily from 9:30am-5pm, with trains running from 10am-5pm.
