(The following is an excerpt from a 5-page article in Wisconsin Golfer that appeared in the July/August 2006 issue, by Rick Pledl.)

An area famous for its waterparks and thrill rides offers some thrilling golf. As much as we golfers like to think the world revolves around our game, sometimes we have to take a seat at the back of the bus. 

Such is the golf life in Wisconsin Dells, where despite the presence of some exceptional golf courses - as well as several businesses featuring the miniature version - the grand game has long assumed second-class status.  Simply put, even if Dells golf courses hosted the next five US Opens - and they're not - the area would still be better known for its liquid assets.

The newest addition to Dells golf is this pretty nine-holer situated in a residential community.  The opening holes are relatively open, but the routing then explores some heavily wooded areas of the property, located just west of Interstate 90/94. 

Spring Brook has five par-4's which all measure 355 yards or less, so the course plays to a manageable 3,012 yards from the back tees.  With greens and tees located close together, the course has filled a niche in Wisconsin Dells as an inexpensive, but challenging, golf experience for seniors, juniors, high-handicappers and those who only have the time to play nine holes. 

It's also a great course for those who prefer walking to riding.  The course is no pushover, however, with enough ponds, woods and out-of-bounds areas to keep good players challenged and entertained.

The course opened last July; and a new clubhouse featuring a restaurant, bar and fitness center was completed just prior to the 2006 season.
